Short answer
What should a monthly website care plan include?
A good care plan covers software and security updates, daily backups you can restore, uptime and security monitoring, a set amount of small content changes, and a short monthly report. It should state response times and what counts as extra work, so you know exactly what you're paying for.
Updates and security
Websites run on software that needs regular updates: WordPress core and plugins, frameworks and server packages. Outdated plugins are one of the most common ways small-business sites are compromised. A care plan should apply updates safely, test the site afterwards, and roll back if something breaks.
Backups you can actually restore
- Automatic daily backups of files and database
- Copies stored somewhere other than the website's own server
- A restore tested at least occasionally, not just assumed to work
Monitoring
- Uptime checks every few minutes, with alerts when the site goes down
- Security scanning and protection against obvious attacks
- SSL certificate and domain renewal reminders
- Contact forms tested, so enquiries don't silently stop arriving
Small changes included
Most businesses need small edits each month: new prices, staff changes, a promotion banner. A care plan should include a set amount of this work so you're not raising a new quote for every typo.
A report you can understand
Each month you should receive a short summary: what was updated, any incidents, site speed, and the enquiries or sales the site produced. If the report is full of jargon, ask for one that isn't.
My Care Starter plan is ₱1,500 a month (US$59 internationally): hosting, SSL, daily backups, uptime monitoring, security patches and 30 minutes of content edits a month. Growth Care, at ₱6,000 a month, adds 3 hours of improvements a month, performance and security monitoring, and a monthly report. See all prices or contact me to discuss your site.
